Area Scouting events announced

Posted: August 17, 2013 - 11:04pm

The Georgia-Carolina Council has announced that the annual School Night to join Scouting season is underway.

There will be several opportunities to join Aug. 19-23 across the area.

The purpose of the meeting will be to give prospective members and their families an opportunity to come see and meet the different Cub Scout Packs in the area. Boys also will be able to join the packs at the meetings.

Cub Scouting is a program for boys in grades 1-5 and will provide youth the opportunity to experience many different events ranging from outdoor adventures to sports in addition to academic activities, and the character development and citizenship training that Scouting has instilled in youth for more than 100 years.

Boys will receive a flier at school with the details of joining Scouting for parents to read before the school night events. More information is available at the Georgia-Carolina Council Service Center (706) 733-5277, www.beascout.scouting.org or www.gacacouncil.org.
