Special Photo Evans High School FCCLA members recently participated in a weekend leadership conference held at the Classic Center in Athens. The chapter was recognized numerous times for their active participation in local, state and national programs. The chapter received a plaque for having the largest membership for FCCLA Region 6 . Also, they were one of thirteen chapters in the state to be recognized for achieving Honor Roll with Distinction. Taylor McChesney, a senior at EHS, was the first EHS FCCLA member to receive the Inex Murray-Janet Barber-Daisy Lewis Scholarship. Zoee Day was recognized for placing third in the state on the Interior Design On-line Proficiency test. They are Zoee Day and Tiffany McGovern who competed in the state Interior Design event; STAR Event participants- Alex Petsko, Chapter Showcase Manual, Gold Medal; Taylor McChesney, Illustrated Talk, Silver Medal; Morgan Wilce and Katlyn Gates, National Programs in Action, Gold Medal; and Erica Bailey, Recycle and Redesign, Gold Medal. Alex, Morgan, Katlyn, and Erica will advance to compete at the National STAR Events/Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee in July. FCCLA Advisers, Sally McCall and Gail Sims accompanied the group.
Evans Christian Academy teacher Dan White's Georgia history class took a field trip on March 25 to Alexandria Plantation, the Rock House, the old Appling Courthouse and jail, and the old Kiokee Baptist Church in Appling.
