School Hearings, April 17, 2013

• A Columbia County Alternative School student went before the school system hearing officer on April 2 for battery and was suspended for the remainder of the school year and the first semester of next year with the option to attend the alternative school next year.

• A Grovetown High School student went before the hearing officer on April 2 for disrupting school and a violation of the honor code and was suspended for 15 days.

• A Grovetown High School student went before the hearing officer on April 2 for being a party to disrupting school and a violation of the honor code and was suspended for 15 days.

• A Lakeside Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on April 2 for fighting and disrupting school and was suspended for the remainder of the school year and the first semester of next year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Grovetown High School student went before the hearing officer on April 2 for an accumulation of offenses and was suspended for the remainder of the school year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• An special needs alternative school student went before the hearing officer on April 2 for drug possession and was remanded to the Individualized Education Plan Committee for punishment.

• Three alternative school students went before the hearing officer on April 3 for an accumulation of offenses and were suspended for the remainder of the school year and ordered to attend the alternative school for the first semester of next year.

• Two Grovetown High School students went before the hearing officer on April 3 for fighting and were suspended for the remainder of the school year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Harlem Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on April 4 for an accumulation of offenses and was suspended for the remainder of the school year and the first semester of next year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• Two Evans High School students went before the hearing officer on April 4 for public displays of affection and were remanded to the school with time served.

A Greenbrier High School student went before the hearing officer on April 4 for possession of prescription drugs and was remanded to the school with insufficient evidence.

• A Grovetown Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on April 4 for an act of violence against a teacher and was suspended for the remainder of the school year and the first semester of nest year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Grovetown Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on April 4 for being a party to an act of violence against a teacher and was suspended for the remainder of the school year and the first semester of next year with the option to attend the alternative school.
