School Hearings, April 3, 2013

• A Grovetown Middle School pupil went before the school system hearing officer on March 18 for possession, distribution and being under the influence of alcohol and was suspended for the remainder of this school year and ordered to attend the Columbia County Alternative School the first semester of next year.

• A Grovetown Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on March 18 for possession and being under the influence of alcohol and was suspended for the remainder of this school year and ordered to attend the alternative school the first semester of next year.

• A Grovetown Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on March 18 for possession and being under the influence of alcohol and was remanded to the school with time served.

• A Grovetown Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on March 18 for making a bomb threat and was suspended for the remainder of this school year and the first semester of next year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• Two Grovetown Middle School pupils went before the hearing officer on March 18 for disrupting school and were remanded to the school with time served.

• An Evans High School special needs student went before the hearing officer on March 18 for an accumulation of offenses and was remanded to the Individualized Education Plan Committee for punishment.

• A Grovetown Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on March 20 for an accumulation of offenses and was suspended for 15 days.

• A Grovetown Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on March 20 for terroristic threats and was suspended for the remainder of this school year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Lakeside High School student went before the hearing officer on March 20 for truancy and was suspended for the remainder of the school year.

• A Grovetown High School student went before the hearing office on March 20 for defiance and was suspended for the remainder of the school year.

• A Lakeside Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on March 21 for an accumulation of offenses and was suspended for the remainder of the school year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Columbia Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on March 21 for an accumulation of offenses and was suspended for the remainder of the school year and all of next year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Harlem Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on March 21 for possession of a knife and threats/intimidation and was suspended for the remainder of this school year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• An Evans High School special needs student went before the hearing officer March 21 for possession of marijuana and was remanded to the IEP Committee for punishment.
