School disciplinary hearings, March 20, 2013

• A Grovetown Middle School special needs pupil went before the school system hearing officer on March 5, 2013, for an accumulation of offenses and remanded to the Individualized Education Plan Committee for punishment.

• A Grovetown Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on March 5, 2013, for a violation of Georgia law and was suspended pending the outcome of a court case.

• A Lakeside High School student went before the hearing officer on March 5, 2013, for truancy and was suspended for the remainder of the school year.

• A Grovetown High School student went before the hearing officer on March 5, 2013, for an off-campus felony and was suspended for the remainder of the school year with the option to attend the Columbia County Alternative School.

• A Columbia Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on March 7, 2013, for possession/distribution of marijuana and was suspended for the remainder of the school year and ordered to attend the alternative school for the first semester of next year.

• A Columbia Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on March 7 for possession/purchase of marijuana and was suspended for the remainder of the school year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• An Evans High School student went before the hearing officer on March 7, 2013, for theft and was suspended for the remainder of the school year with the option to attend the alternative school.
