School Hearings, Feb. 13, 2013

• A Greenbrier Middle School special needs pupil went before the school system hearing officer on Jan. 29 for threats/intimidation was remanded to the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Committee for punishment.

• A Lakeside High School student went before the hearing officer on Jan. 29 for fighting and was suspended for the remainder of the school year with the option to attend the Columbia County Alternative School.

• A Lakeside High School student went before the hearing officer on Jan. 29 for fighting and was remanded to the school with time served.

• A Lakeside Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on Jan. 29 for disrupting school was suspended for the remainder of the school year and ordered to attend the alternative school for the first semester of next school year.

• An alternative school special needs student went before the hearing officer on Jan. 29 for disrupting school and was remanded to the IEP committee for punishment.

• A Harlem High School student went before the hearing officer for an accumulation of offenses and was suspended for the remainder of the school year.

• A Grovetown Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on Jan. 31 for making terroristic threats and was expelled for the remainder of the school year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• An Evans Middle School special needs pupil went before the hearing officer on Jan. 31 for possessing a knife and was remanded to the IEP committee for punishment.

• An alternative school student went before the hearing officer on Jan. 31 for disrupting school and was remanded with time served.

• Two Grovetown High School students went before the hearing officer on Feb. 1 for a school prank and were remanded to the school with time served.

• A Grovetown High School student went before the hearing officer on Feb. 1 for possession of marijuana and was suspended for the remainder of the school year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Lakeside High School student went before the hearing officer on Feb. 1 for disrupting school and was suspended for the remainder of the school year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Columbia Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on Feb. 1 for an accumulation of offenses and was suspended for the remainder of the school year with the option to attend the alternative school.
