Columbia County school hearings

• A Grovetown Middle School pupil went before the school system hearing officer on Oct. 10 for accumulation of offenses and was expelled for this school year with the option to the attend the Columbia County Alternative School.

• A Greenbrier High School student went before the hearing officer on Oct. 10 for off-campus felony of drugs and was expelled for this school year.

• A Grovetown Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on Oct. 10 for sexual battery and was expelled for this school year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• Three Grovetown Middle School pupils went before the hearing officer on Oct. 10 for sexual battery and was remanded to the school for insufficient evidence.

• A Grovetown High School student went before the hearing officer on Oct. 10 for under the influence of alcohol and was suspended for the remainder of this school year’s first semester with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Lakeside High School special needs student went before the hearing officer on Oct. 10 for disorderly conduct and was remanded to the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Committee for punishment.

• A Harlem Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on Oct. 12 for accumulation of offenses and was expelled for the remainder of this school year’s first semester and was sent to the alternative school for the second semester.

• A Columbia County Alternative School student went before the hearing officer on Oct. 12 for disorderly conduct and was suspended for the remainder of this school year’s first semester with the option to attend the alternative school.
