Columbia County school hearings

• A Columbia County Alternative School student went before the school system hearing officer on Sept. 27 for accumulation of offenses and was remanded to the school with time served.

• A Columbia County Alternative School student went before the hearing officer on Sept. 27 for accumulation of offenses and was suspended for the remainder of this school year’s first semester.

• A Columbia County Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on Sept. 28 for possession of a knife and was suspended for the remainder of this school year’s first semester with the option to attend the Columbia County Alternative School.

• An Evans High School student went before the hearing officer on Sept. 25 for a physical attack on another person and was expelled for the remainder of this school year’s first semester and will attend the alternative school for the second semester.

• A Greenbrier High School student went before the hearing officer on Sept. 25 for possession of a knife and was suspended for the remainder of this school year’s first semester with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Greenbrier High School student went before the hearing officer on Sept. 28 for possession of marijuana and was given long-term out-of-school suspension and in-school suspension for the remainder of this school year’s first semester.

• A Greenbrier Middle School special needs pupil went before the hearing officer on Sept. 28 for possession of a knife and was remanded to the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Committee for punishment.

• A Grovetown High School student went before the hearing officer on Sept. 27 for sexual harassment and was remanded to the school for insufficient evidence.

• Two Grovetown High School students went before the hearing officer on Sept. 27 for public indecency and were given long-term out-of-school suspension and in-school suspension for 11 days.

• A Grovetown Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on Sept. 25 for sexual harassment and was suspended for the remainder of this school year’s first semester with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Grovetown Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on Sept. 28 for accumulation of offenses and was expelled for the remainder of this school year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Harlem Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on Sept. 27 for possession of a knife and was given long-term out-of-school suspension and in-school suspension for 11 days.

• A Lakeside Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on Sept. 27 for sexual harassment and was expelled for the remainder of this school year’s first semester and will attend the alternative school for the second semester.
