School hearings

• A Columbia County Alternative School student went before the school system hearing officer on Aug. 2 for possession of prescription drugs and was suspended for five days.

• A Lakeside High School student went before the hearing officer on Aug. 2 for possession of marijuana and was expelled for the school year.

• A Greenbrier High School student went before the hearing officer on Aug. 2 for vandalism and was expelled for the first semester of this school year with the option to attend the Columbia County Alternative School.

• A Columbia Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on Aug. 3 for fighting and was remanded to the school with time served.

• Two Evans High School students went before the hearing officer on Aug. 3 for possession of marijuana and were expelled for the first semester of this school year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Greenbrier High School student went before the hearing officer on Aug. 22 for an off-campus felony and was expelled for the school year.

• Two Evans High School students went before the hearing officer on Aug. 22 for drugs and were remanded to the school for insufficient evidence.

• An Evans High School special needs student went before the hearing officer on Aug. 22 for possession of spice and was remanded to the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Committee for punishment.

• A Greenbrier High School special needs student went before the hearing officer on Aug. 24 for harassing phone calls and was remanded to the IEP Committee for punishment.

• A Greenbrier High School student went before the hearing officer on Aug. 24 for possession of a knife and was given long-term out-of-school suspension and in-school suspension.

• A Columbia County Alternative School student went before the hearing officer on Aug. 24 for school disruption and was given long-term out-of-school suspension.

• A Harlem Middle School special needs pupil went before the hearing officer on Aug. 24 for an act of violence against a teacher and was remanded to the IEP Committee for punishment.

• A Greenbrier High School student went before the hearing officer on Aug. 31 for school disruption and was given long-term out-of-school suspension and in-school suspension.

• A Columbia Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on Sept. 5 for distribution of marijuana and was expelled for the school year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Columbia County Alternative School student went before the hearing officer on Sept. 5 for being under the influence of drugs and was remanded to the school with time served.

• A Columbia County Alternative School student went before the hearing officer on Sept. 5 for distribution of pills and was expelled for the school year.

• A Columbia County Alternative School student went before the hearing officer on Sept. 5 for possession of pills and was suspended for the remainder of this school year’s first semester.

• A Columbia County Alternative School special needs student went before the hearing officer for an off-campus burglary and was remanded to the IEP Committee for punishment.

• A Greenbrier High School student went before the hearing officer on Sept. 5 for possession of a prescription drug and was given long-term out-of-school suspension and in-school suspension.

• A Greenbrier High School student went before the hearing officer on Sept. 5 for possession of marijuana and was suspended for the remainder of this school year’s first semester with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Lakeside Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on Sept. 6 for a threat and was expelled for the remainder of this school year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Greenbrier High School student went before the hearing officer on Sept. 6 for possession of prescription drugs and was suspended for the remainder of this school year’s first semester.

• A Greenbrier High School student went before the hearing officer on Sept. 6 for possession of alcohol and was suspended for the remainder of this school year’s first semester with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Greenbrier High School student went before the hearing officer on Sept. 6 for possession of marijuana and was suspended for the remainder of this school year’s first semester.

• A Greenbrier High School student went before the hearing officer on Sept. 6 for possession and use of tobacco and was suspended for the remainder of this school year’s first semester with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Greenbrier High School student went before the hearing officer on Sept. 12 for possession of pills and was suspended for the remainder of this school year’s first semester with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Harlem High School student went before the hearing officer on Sept. 12 for possession of prescription drugs and was expelled for the school year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Grovetown High School student went before the hearing officer on Sept. 14 for possession of marijuana and was suspended for the remainder of this school year’s first semester.

• A Grovetown Middle School special needs pupil went before the hearing officer on Sept. 14 for act of violence against a teacher and was remanded to the IEP Committee for punishment.

This is our future.
