MRS. GARLAND
JOHNSON DYE

WARRENTON — Mrs. Garland Johnson Dye, 85 of Warrenton, died at MCG on Jan. 31, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert P. Dye.

Mrs. Dye was a lifelong resident of Warren County, and was the daughter of the late Duvall Johnson and the late Maggie Guy Johnson. She had worked as a seamstress, at the Double R Cafe in Camak and the lunchroom at Warren County Elementary School. Mrs. Dye was also a member of Camak Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Debra Dye; one sister and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held at Mill Creek Baptist Cemetery, on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012. Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 

MR. GEORGE
(JIMMY) EDWARDS

THOMSON, — Mr. George “Jimmy” Edwards, 70, beloved husband of Mrs. Elizabeth Edwards, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2011, in the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.

A memorial services was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with the pastor Marcus Holt officiating.

Mr. Edwards was a native of Richmond County, but had lived in Thomson for several years. He was a retired diesel mechanic for Richmond County.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Edwards, Thomson; his two daughters, Rhonda (Johnny) Langham, Lincolnton; Lynn Evans, Dearing; three sons, George J. Edwards Jr., Evans; Keith Jowers, Augusta; Christopher Jowers, Thomson; his brother, Jerry Edwards, Gough, Ga..; his sister, Sandra Anderson, Calhoun, Ga..; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 

MRS. IRENE M. FULMER

THOMSON — Mrs. Irene M. Fulmer, 68, of Honeysuckle Lane entered into rest Feb. 5, 2012. She was the beloved wife of Elliott Lonnie Fulmer Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at Faith Baptist Church with Dr. Don Widener officiating. Interment will follow at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Allen Witt, Mike Hood, Steve Tudor, Daran Epps, Tony Burnley and Kevin Burnley.

Mrs. Fulmer was born in Glennville, Ga., and lived in McDuffie County, Ga., for many years. She retired as a seamstress from Thomson Co. Mrs. Fulmer was a faithful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister, and foster parented more than 13 children. She was also an active member of Faith Baptist Church and member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.

Survivors include her husband, Elliott “Lonnie” Fulmer Sr.; daughters, Cindy Nash and husband, Dale, Lonnie Marie Przybysz and husband, Richard; sons, Calvin Fulmer and wife, Julie, Elliott Fulmer (Chasity Newsome); brother, Frank Moneyham; 13 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Mrs. Fulmer was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy E. Rachels.

Memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 973 Salem Road, Thomson.

The family receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Beggs Funeral Home, Thomson, which was in charge of arrangements.

 

MRS. RUTH
JORDAN LANGHAM

WARRENTON — Mrs. Ruth Jordan Langham, 73, widow of Mr. Talmadge Langham, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, in the Thomson Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, in the Mount Beulah Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Frierson, the Rev. Mike Sutphin and the Rev. Steve Stokes officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Langham was a native of Columbia County, but lived most of her life in Warrenton. She was a former employee of Prudential Insurance Co., and Thiele Kaolin Co. She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church.

Survivors include her two daughters, Kay Langham, Warrenton; Sandy (Jimmy) Yelton, Norwood; her son, Van (Julie) Langham, Thomson; grandson, Mitchell Langham; sisters, Violet Potenski, North Augusta, S.C.; Esther (Clarence) Higginbotham, Orangeburg, S.C.; brothers, Joe Jordan, North Augusta; David (Libby) Jordan, Lexington, S.C.; her in-laws, Cleo Smith, Louisville; J.C. (Annette) Langham, Thomson; Judy (Hugh) Scott, North Augusta.

Pallbearers were Cliff Langham, Smith Dixon, Danny Beckworth, Jaye Jordan, Tommy Bailey and Richard Ferrall.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 

MRS. MAGGIE B. MCDANIEL

Retired teacher

THOMSON — Mrs. Maggie B. McDaniel, 89, widow of Mr. Thomas W. McDaniel, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, in the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, in the Thomson First United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Barnes, the Rev. Pat Shannon and the Rev. Beverly Casstevens officiating. Burial was in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. McDaniel was a native of Warren County, but lived most of her life in Thomson. She was a retired teacher, and a member of the Thomson First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her two sons, Bob Keith Jr., and Jon Keith, both of Thomson; her two daughters, Gene Gentry, Whispering Pines, N.C., and Susan Deason, Milledgeville; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and her caregiver, Bell McNair.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Scott Deason, Jeffrey Deason, Christopher Gentry and Tony Gentry. Other pallbearers were Ray Guy, Ryan Guy, Michael Mathews and Greg Shouse.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Thomson First United Methodist Church General Fund in her memory.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 

MR. DAVID OLIN SMITH

THOMSON — Mr. David Olin Smith, 50, of Thomson, entered into rest Feb. 4, 2012, at his residence.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Stokes officiating. Interment followed in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were deacons of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Mr. Smith was born in Milledgeville, and lived most of his life in McDuffie County. He was a 1981 graduate of Thomson High School and had worked as a furniture refinisher. Mr. Smith served as a volunteer at Manna and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Emily Cason Smith; sisters, Debbie Hughes and husband, Bob, Connie Jones and husband, Tommy; nephews, Eric Jones and Daniel Hughes; and best friend, Barry Hunt, all of Thomson.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father, Roy Olin Smith, and nephew, Matthew Jones.

Memorials may be made to the University Hospice Foundation, 4106 Columbia Road, Suite 201, Martinez, GA 30907, or to the Pine Grove Baptist Church, Multi Media Fund, 3041 Pine Grove Church Drive, Thomson, GA 30824.

MR. THOMAS A.
BILLY SMITH SR.

THOMSON — Mr. Thomas A. Billy Smith Sr., 85, of Thomson, died Jan. 31, 2012. He was the husband of the late Virginia Durham Smith.

Graveside services were held Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Don Widener officiating.

Mr. Smith was born in Warren County and lived most of his life in McDuffie County. He was retired as owner and operator of Smith’s Sanitation. Mr. Smith was a member of the Macedonia United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his son, Tommy Smith Jr. and wife, Debbie, of Gibson; daughter, Sandra Godwin, and husband, John of Englewood, Fla.; one brother, Walker Smith and his wife, Faye of Thomson; parented grandchild, Josh Smith (Shana); his other grandchildren, Angela Usry, Amanda Wheeler (Roy), Michael Washam and eight great-grandchildren.

Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
