Not too many animals get quite the emotional response as snakes when they are found in the woods or around the house. People have been repulsed by or attracted to snakes ever since the dawn of time. Snakes are part of the landscape.
When organizers began planning the Evans Towne Farmers Market last year, they didn't think it would receive the response it has. The market was slated to run from March through June but has been extended to Oct. 24.
• Registration for Family Y youth soccer for 5- to 12-year olds lasts until July 7 at Wesley United Methodist Church. The season is Aug. 12 to Oct. 19. Cost is $55 for members, $75 for non-members and there is a $15 late fee for registrants after July 7.
Tuesday, I covered a swim meet between Farmington and Brynwood that took me back to my childhood somewhat.
Not because I was ever a competitive swimmer, but I spent a good portion of my summers hanging out at our local pool when I was growing up.
