The Thomson City Council has confirmed Lamar Fain in the position of supervisor of the wastewater treatment department. The council voted Dec. 8 to make the appointment permanent.

A South Carolina woman died Friday when her southbound car collided with a northbound tractor-trailer on Wrens Highway in south McDuffie County. Candice D. McDonald, 21, of Greenwood, S.C., died in the 4:40 a.m.
