There has been an increase of late in the number of people mistaking yellow jackets for honeybees and wanting them removed from their yards.
Yellow jackets become more aggressive this time of the year. This may be the reason for more sightings.
Rose growers and enthusiasts will come together for the 71st annual Augusta Rose Show the weekend of Sept. 28, 29 at the Augusta Mall.
The free show is expected to draw 500 horticultural entries and about 50 design entries.
Though I'm not one for drinking songs, a recent report by the Children's Rights Council that my home state, Maine, is the best place in the country to rear a child, has me raising a water glass and cheering.
