What an exciting month it was for me in our local art world. First I got to help with the Swing into Art exhibit, which brought many visitors from the Master Tournament to the Arts and Heritage Center from around the world.
The Martintown Road Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution celebrated increased membership and national and state recognition this year.
Twelve new members, four transfers and one reinstated daughter were welcomed.
Free shag workshop
A free shag workshop for children ages 7 to 17 will be held June 15 at the Family Y of North Augusta.
The workshop will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and will be taught by Johnny and Judy Turner.
The Aiken County Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department is looking for summer volunteers for its visitors center. Those interested should contact Sherri Scott, tourism assistant, at (803) 642-7557.
• Brett Johnson of North Augusta was named to the president's honor list at Coastal Carolina University for the spring semester.
• Krissy Dyches of North Augusta graduated from the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities.
