So now the fury of the Great Ice Storm has died down - and we survived. Hopefully, all residents waiting for power have been taken care of and we've all restocked our freezers and made plans to buy that generator.
Car show, book fair cancelled
The car show and book fair kick-off scheduled for Saturday at North Harlem Elementary has been cancelled. The regular book fair will be held 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily Monday through Feb. 28 with a family event 4-6 p.m.

About 6,000 gallons of sewage spilled into a tributary of Reed Creek on Tuesday when a clogged sewer line overflowed in a Martinez subdivision.
Columbia County Utilities was notified at about 12:30 p.m.
American Legion Post 192 will a casino fundraiser Saturday, Feb. 22, 3-7 p.m. at the post, 275 Legion Drive, Evans. Open to the public, 18 yeasr and older. Only 150 tickets are available. $25 in advance, $30 at the door.
The Greenbrier High School Dinner, Bake Sale and Silent Auction to benefit the band, cheerleading and the baseball and softball teams is Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the high school. Cost is $10 for a spaghetti dinner from Armando's Restaurant.
The No. 4 seed Gteenbrier Wolfpack were quickly reeled in by Region 2B-AAAAA champ and No. 1 seed Warner Robins, eventually succumbing 84-58 in the opening round of the Region 2-AAAA boys basketball tournament.
