On Oct. 20, the North Au­gusta City Council voted unanimously to approve an ordinance adopting a 2015 budget on first reading, striking down an amendment calling for a tax increase of 2.36 mils in the process. The amendment was put forward by Mayor Lark Jones, who argued that the city would need the increase to fill a void once held by the city?s capital projects fund. The fund aids the city in building structures and funding other capital expenditures, City Administrator Todd Glover explained.
