Five Columbia County educators have been named finalists in the annual Teacher of the Year contest.
Finalists include three elementary and two high school teachers.
The five finalists are: Stacy Henry, Blue Ridge Elementary; Jessica Williams, River Ridge Elementary; April Sturgell, Stevens Creek Elementary; Erick Leiden, Evans High School; and Lisa Guilbeau, Greenbrier High School.

Almost halfway through the middle school football season, Evans and Greenbrier lead their respective divisions. Last week, Greenbrier defeated Columbia Middle School, 43-0, while Evans pulled out a close game over Riverside Middle School, 20-18.
