Grovetown officials agreed Monday to fill a vacancy on the city council in the November election.
A special election to fill former Councilman Dale Stoddard’s seat will be on the Nov. 4 ballot.
Stoddard, who died unexpectly in June, was elected to the council in 2011, His term ends in December 2015. Because more than a year remains of his term, a a special election must be held instead of appointing a replacementg by remaining council members.
Qualifying for the special election will be held 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 4-5 at City Hall on Old Wrightsboro Road.
