Richmond County deputy hurt in crash
A Richmond County Sheriff’s Office motorcycle deputy was critically injured Thursday afternoon when he crashed his personal motorcycle on Interstate 20.
Deputy Alton Creech, who was off duty, was approaching the Belair Road westbound exit on his Harley-Davidson shortly after 5 p.m. when he hit the back of a 1999 Toyota Camry, said Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris.
Creech, 32, was airlifted to Georgia Regents Medical Center and listed in critical condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
