Shooting lands one in hospital

Police say possible gang activity lead to a shooting which landed a 19-year-old Augusta man in the hospital.

Police responded to the area of Great Glen and Keesaw Drive on Sunday in reference to shots fired. Police found Hector Bossio had been shot in the leg at the High Meadows Clubhouse. Deputies applied tourniquets to Bossio's leg at the scene.

Upon further investigaiton, police said the crime scene was in the 400 block of Keesaw Glen at a residence that had been rented for the night for a birthday party. Police said everyone in attendance was from South Augusta. At the party, an argument reportedly broke out in the yard of the residence between unknown people. Witnesses told police that three males pulled guns and started shooting.

No subjects have currently been identified to date.

 

Man charged with drug trafficking

A man was charged with trafficking in illegal drugs after police found nearly a pound of methamphetamine during a traffic stop.

According to the incident report, Ricky Scott Underwood was found to be in possession of approximately 59.9 grams of methamphetamine and approximately one gram of heroin after he was pulled over in the 4100 block of Washington Road.

Underwood was charged with trafficking in illegal drugs and booked into the Columbia County Detention Center.

 

Police return stolen golf cart to school

Police returned a stolen golf cart after the battery died when two subjects attempted to drive off with it.

Surveillance video revealed that two unknown males attempted to steal a golf cart from the Augusta Christian School campus Friday, according to the incident report. The video shows two males dressed in dark clothing entered the campus from Phillips Drive.

The subjects jumped on the golf cart near the field house and drove it back towards Phillips Drive. While en route, the golf cart's battery died and the subjects abandoned the cart in the middle of the road. Police located the golf cart and pushed it back to the school's campus.
