Dodge Ram truck stolen

The following accounts were taken from Columbia County Sheriff’s Office incident reports:

Dodge Ram truck stolen

A Dodge Ram truck was reported stolen from a Martinez auto business.

According to an incident report, the owner of Omar’s Auto Sales on Washington Road stated an unknown person was caught on surveillance jumping the fence into the auto lot.

The suspect stole a royal blue 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 truck with a quad cab and an Omar’s Auto Sales paper tag on the back.

The theft is believed to have happened between 11 and 11:15 p.m. on Monday.

Tax fraud reported

A woman reported a fraudulent attempt was made to file her taxes.

The victim stated she received a notification from TaxSlayer that another individual had successfully filed using her Social Security number. The victim stated she has filed taxes every year and that this was the first time this has happened. She further stated that she was unaware of anyone that may have filed using her Social Security number.

The victim also stated that the she had reported the incident to the IRS and that they needed a local report before they would proceed.

Man climbs onto balcony

An Evans homeowner called police after reportedly seeing a man climbing onto the home’s balcony.

According to reports, police met with the victim in the 1000 block of Walden Glen Lane. The victim stated he was walking out the door when he saw the suspect climbing onto his second-story balcony and immediately shut the door. The victim stated he opened the door after hearing the suspect jump down from the balcony, and saw the suspect get into a silver Chevrolet Cruze and drive towards N. Belair Road.

The victim described the man as white or Hispanic with black hair, approximately 5’10” and 175 lbs. The victim stated the suspect was wearing a white T-shirt and jean shorts.

Girls accused in attack at school

Police were called to Evans Middle School after two females reportedly attacked another male student.

According to reports, the females attacked the male student from behind in the hallway near the gymnasium. The report stated the two females dragged him by his hair to the floor where they hit and punched him repeatedly.

The report stated the females stated they attacked the male student because they heard he was saying bad things about them. The male student received only superficial injuries and all three students were released to their parents.

Man reports phone scam

A man reported a fraudulent call from someone claiming to be Georgia Power stating an unpaid bill needed to be paid.

According to reports, the person on the phone stated that Brooks Haven Floral and Flowers in Grovetown was overdue on their power bill. The unknown person stated the electricity would be turned off at 5 p.m. if the $1,000 balance was not paid in full.

The victim reportedly called Georgia Power, who informed him there was no overdue balance. According to the victim, Georgia Power told him they have had many reports of fraudulent attempts to collect false payments and to file a report with the sheriff’s office.

The victim did not pay the individuals.
