The following accounts were taken from Columbia County Sheriff’s Office incident reports:

Car break-ins at day cares, school

Four Columbia County people recently told authorities that someone broke into or stole items from their vehicles while parked outside county day cares and schools.

A 30-year-old woman said she parked her vehicle in front of Small Wonders Playcare on Belair Road in Evans about 8:30 a.m. Monday. She left her vehicle unlocked and running while she took her child inside. When she returned a few minutes later, the woman said her cellphone and wallet were missing from the driver’s door. She said she didn’t see anyone near her car when she returned to it.

A 29-year-old woman said Tuesday that she left her car parked at A Child’s World Day Care on Columbia Road in Martinez about 6:50 a.m. While she went inside to drop off her child, someone broke out the driver’s window and stole items from inside. Video surveillance footage showed a man get out of the passenger side of a silver minivan, shatter the window and steal the items.

Just before 7 a.m. Wednesday, a 29-year-old woman said someone broke into her vehicle while it was parked at Discovery Zone Kids Daycare on William Smith Boulevard in Evans. She spent less than five minutes inside the day care dropping off her child and returned to find the window broken and her cellphone and handbag missing from the seat. The woman’s purse was actually in the back seat and the bag stolen contained only school-related articles.

Video surveillance captured images of a thief who broke into a woman’s car at Martinez Elementary School on Wednesday. The 27-year-old woman said she left her vehicle unlocked and running about 5:30 p.m. while she went inside the school on Flowing Wells Road in Martinez. She returned and noticed her cellphone and purse missing and a dark-colored four-door car leaving the parking lot. The woman said her wallet containing several credit and debit cards and a Pandora bracelet were inside the purse.

The school’s video surveillance footage showed the woman arriving, then a dark car approach the woman’s. The passenger got out and opened the driver’s door of the woman’s vehicle, grabbed several items and return to the dark vehicle to leave.

Woman’s insurance stolen

An Evans woman said Monday that someone stole her personal information during a security breach and used it to get medical treatment.

The 72-year-old woman said she received a letter in April from an insurance company she and her husband previously used stating their computer system was hacked and some personal information might have been compromised.

In July, the woman received a bill from her insurance company based out of California for treatment June 12. The bill was for a $380 prosthetic boot and the woman was listed as the patient. The woman said she’s never gotten treated with a boot and someone used her information to receive the treatment.

The woman said she hasn’t lived in California in 12 years and has no idea who stole her information.

Woman says ex posted explicit picture of her

A woman told authorities Monday that her ex posted an explicit photo of her online.

The woman said she had been in a relationship with the man while both were married to other people. They’d recently broken off the relationship. The woman said she told her lover’s wife about their relationship, which angered him.

The woman’s ex-lover posted a sexually explicit photo of her on Tumblr.com as revenge for telling his wife about their relationship. She asked her ex to delete the photo, but he refused and said it is a screenshot from a video he recorded without her consent or knowledge.
