School official threatened

School official threatened

An assistant principal at Lakeside High School called authorities Tuesday after discovering a former student threatened him.

Tom Riddick said he was approached by someone who said a former student wrote a post on Facebook that said, “Can somebody do me a favor and kill Dr. Riddick.”

Judge is victim of fraud

A Superior Court judge called deputies Wednesday after discovering someone used his credit card in California.

Superior Court Judge Michael Annis, 62, said someone used his credit card numbers and made four purchases starting May 15. The fraudulent charges totaled $384.10.

Little league park damaged

The concession stand and scoring tower at Kelley Park were damaged during an attempted break in last weekend.

A woman called authorities Monday stating someone tried to break into the concession stand and scoring tower between 8:30 p.m. on May 17 and Monday morning. The door to the concession stand was damaged.

The railing on the porch of the scoring tower was broken and the panels over the windows were unscrewed.

Mailboxes damaged

A man told deputies Wednesday that he saw the car carrying people who damaged his mailbox.

The resident of Capstone Way, off William Few Parkway, said that he heard a loud noise in front of his house at about 2 a.m. He ran outside and realized his mailbox was smashed on one side. He said the vehicle driving away was a small black four-door car.

A deputy discovered a similarly-damaged mailbox nearby.

Two residents of Ivy Falls, which is near Capstone Way, also reported damaged mailboxes. A Bowen Falls residents said she heard a noise at about 2 a.m. and found her mailbox knocked off its post.

On the way to that call, a deputy saw another mailbox knocked off the post on the same road.

A Columbia County sheriff’s deputy who lives on Westlawn Drive, also in the same area, said he also heard a loud noise after 2 a.m. He looked out the window and saw what looked like a dark-colored Honda minivan speeding toward the subdivision entrance. His mailbox also was knocked off the post.
