The following accounts were taken from reports from The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
Teen reports possible sexual assault by uncle
A teen told authorities Tuesday that his uncle possibly drugged and sexually assaulted him earlier in November.
The 19-year-old said his uncle invited him to his Columbia County residence on Nov. 7.
At the house, the boy drank a glass of water given to him by his 43-year-old uncle and lost consciousness.
He said he remembers waking up and seeing both he and his uncle naked. The teen said he was on top of his uncle before passing out again.
The boy’s next memory was waking up in a chair feeling “weak and confused.”
A family member persuaded the teen to contact authorities.
No arrests had been made as of Thursday, said Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris.
Employee accused of theft
A Howard Lumber Co. employee was accused Monday of stealing funds from the Evans business.
The man, a sales representative for the company, had reportedly been taking undisclosed amounts of money from the business since Sept. 1, according to his employer.
The man is accused of keeping money he received from customers who purchased materials from the business.
The employee would create a fake work order while billing a customer’s credit account to cover up the illegal activity. He would then use another customer’s credit card to pay for the counterfeit bills.
The case remains under investigation, said Morris.
