Car split in two during Monday crash

A 22-year-old woman is in critical condition after an early Monday single-car crash in Evans.

Jenna Victoria Sevigny of Evans was found on North Belair Road about 3 a.m., partially ejected from the rear windshield of her car, said Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris in an email.

Authorities believe Sevigny was traveling north when the car drifted off the shoulder of the road.

Sevigny likely overcorrected and went off the road on the opposite side.

Morris said the car slid about 100 feet when it hit a pine tree in front of a home and broke in two pieces, with the rear section sliding another 25 feet.

Sevigny was extricated and taken to Georgia Health Sciences Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

Morris said Sevigny wasn’t wearing her seatbelt.

Sevigny is a 2008 graduate of Evans High School.

The following accounts were taken from reports from The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office. Additional reports are available at www.columbiacountyso.org:

Naked male photos sent to woman’s phone

A Martinez woman told authorities Thursday that strange men were sending lewd photos of themselves to her cell phone.

The 34-year-old said she spoke with one of the men, who told her that he received a message from her on an online dating site instructing him to send a photo and she would do the same. The woman told deputies that she never created an account on the site. She believes her ex-boyfriend created the account and posed as her while communicating with other men.

Woman apologizes for rape accusation

An Evans man said he received several phone calls last week from a woman wishing to apologize for accusing him of raping her.

The 30-year-old said he initially received a phone call from the woman in June when she said he raped her at a party.

The recent phone messages from her said she had not been raped, but she needed “to justify her actions to Mike.” The man told deputies he had no information on the woman or “Mike,” and that the calls were coming from a blocked phone number.

Bedroom photos taken of husband by wife

While asleep in bed with his girlfriend Thursday morning, a Grovetown man said his estranged wife entered his bedroom and took pictures of the couple.

The 39-year-old said his wife started an argument and cursed at him before snapping the photos. He said she told him that she planned to show the pictures to their children.

After she left the home on Tyler Woods Drive, the man called the sheriff’s office.

A deputy contacted the wife, 41, who told him she came to the house about midnight to collect some belongings. When no one answered the door, she let herself in. She said she walked to the bedroom when her husband woke up and started the argument. The argument continued outside when, she said, her husband got on top of his car and said he would call the authorities. She left and also called the sheriff’s office.

Though she initially told a deputy she didn’t have a camera, she later admitted to having one, but made no mention of pictures, according to the incident report.

Though the husband wanted to prosecute, a judge had not yet signed a separation agreement, so the wife still had rights to access the home.
