Man, 25, urinates
in a patrol car
While on his way to the Columbia County Detention Center early Sunday, a Martinez man urinated in the back of a patrol car.
Eric Nathaniel Baker, 25, of the 500 block of Oakbrook Drive, was charged with criminal trespass and interference with government property.
A neighbor called deputies at about 3 a.m. after hearing yelling and items being thrown around in Baker’s home. The neighbor saw Baker throwing items out of the garage into the driveway and yelling at a 27-year-old woman.
The woman said the pair argued about an earlier incident at a bar and Baker got mad and overturned her coffee table. A man was on the phone with the woman when he heard Baker yelling and breaking items in the background.
Baker said he was asleep and didn’t know how the items on the coffee table got broken. A deputy noted that he was extremely intoxicated.
When a deputy arrested Baker for criminal trespass, he kicked and damaged the back window of the patrol car. He then pulled down his pants and urinated on the floorboard.
Baker was being held in the jail on a $4,200 bond, according to jailors.
Daughter assaulted on playground
A Martinez man told authorities Friday that his daughter was assaulted by a classmate on an elementary school playground.
The man said his daughter got home from school Thursday and called him at work. She said while on the playground at South Columbia Elementary School at about 2:40 p.m., a male classmate jerked her backward. She fell down the slide and landed on her stomach.
The girl said her classmate then jumped on top of her until other children pulled him off.
As she tried to run away up the slide, he pulled her down again and touched her breast.
She kicked the boy in the groin. When the girl asked him if he was OK, the boy said he was. He then grabbed her arm and tripped her, causing her to fall on her back. The boy then got on top of her and pinned her arms down again.
The girl said she was able to escape, but didn’t tell a teacher because she was afraid of getting into trouble because she’d kicked the boy.
Angry woman attacks car lot owner
The owner of a Martinez car lot called deputies Thursday to report that an angry customer tried to attack her.
The owner of Auto Plex of Augusta, on Washington Road in front of West Town shopping center, said that at about 6 p.m. a woman came in asking for the $100 deposit she’d made in September. The owner said she had no record of the deposit and the woman didn’t have a receipt.
The woman got angry, cursed, and said she’d come back and burn down the building and damage every car on the lot.
As the woman left, she picked up a flower pot and threw it through the open door of the business. She then grabbed an umbrella and charged employees, but a man the woman was with held her back. They both then got into a car and left.
