Jim Borum - construction teacher and SkillsUSA advisor at Jefferson County High School - received a $25,000 Lowe's Grant from Lowe's Evans manager, Tracy McLaughlin.

Borum applied for the grant through his school's Career Teacher Student Organization - SkillsUSA to repair and replace outdated softball field dugouts and hitting facility. Borum plans to incorporate construction classes into the building process. "Lowe's has been an important partner in giving our students' opportunities to learn and compete in skills needed by the construction industry. Lowe's has been very good to us, especially with us being such a small and rural community."

Scott Clark, president of R.W.Allen Construction, played a very important role in the application process through his community involvement in the founding and the developing of the East Georgia Workforce Development Alliance.
