A Harlem man died Wednesday afternoon in a three-car crash on Wrightsboro Road.

Ernest Samuels, 51, of Peri Leigh Road, died from blunt force trauma, according to Columbia County Deputy Coroner Bonnie King.

At about 5:25 p.m., Samuels was driving his 2006 Ford Explorer west on Wrightsboro Road between Kettle Creek and Bugg Road.

As he rounded a curve, Samuels crossed into oncoming traffic and hit the left front of a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Debbie Robertson Arcuri, 55, of Mack Lane in Harlem, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s office accident report.

Arcuri’s vehicle went off the right side of the road and hit an embankment and stopped in a ditch, according to the report.

Samuels’ SUV kept going and hit an oncoming 2006 Ford F-150 head-on. Samuels was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected through the driver’s window, King said.

Arcuri and the driver of the truck, Brittany Garrick, 26, of Grovetown, were in good condition at Doctors Hospital Thursday. Passenger Craig McKinney, 34, of Grovetown, was treated and released.

Arcuri was not visibly injured.
