Christian Lavarias: a Harlem teen is accused of imperso- nating a firefigher.

A Harlem teen was arrested Saturday after authorities say he impersonated a firefighter as he pulled over a 16-year-old girl.

Christian Jerome Lavarias, 19, of Harlem, was charged with impersonating firefighter and false imprisonment.

Alexis Hughes, 16, told deputies she was driving on Louisville Road just before 9 p.m. Thursday, when she passed a black Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling slowly in the right lane, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office incident report. She said the SUV then sped up, turned on a siren and red and white flashing lights in the grill and below the rearview mirror.

Then teen pulled over and said a man, later identified as Lavarias, approached the door and said, “You didn’t use your signal when you passed me and you almost cut me off,” according to the report. He also said, “Do I need to call this in or is this a lesson learned?”

The teen said Lavarias waved a radio at her with Columbia County Fire written on it.

After telling Lavarias it was a lesson learned, the teen said she drove to her grandmother’s house and told her mother what happened.

Her mother went to a nearby fire station, told them what happened and was told to call deputies.

Lavarias was released from the Columbia County Detention Center after posting a $10,200 bond, according to jailers.
