The area’s most renowned musical family will hold a celebrity golf tournament and concert to benefit local charities this fall.
Charles, Josh and John Kelley have announced the inaugural Kelley Brothers & Friends Celebrity Golf Tournament & Concert will be held Oct. 27. Charles Kelley founded the six-time Grammy-winning trio Lady Antebellum, and Josh Kelley is a pop and country music star. John Kelley operates a construction and development company in North Carolina.
The tournament will be played at Champions Retreat and fans can compete with the Kelleys and other stars.
Afterward, Lady Antebellum, the Kelley Brothers and others will perform at Lady Antebellum Pavilion in Evans, which was named for the group. Other musical celebrities will perform on the Josh Kelley stage, according to a news release.
“We’re thrilled to be bringing this event to Augusta. This is our home and we’re grateful to all the folks around here that helped each of us get to where we are today. We couldn’t be more excited to contribute to the community through this unique and exciting event,” the brothers stated in the release.
The event will benefit several charities, including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the John W. Kelley, M.D. Cardiovascular Endowment at University Health Care Foundation. The brothers established the endowment in honor of their father, who retired in 2006 after practicing cardiology in Augusta for 18 years.
The endowment is used to further education and training for cardiovascular students, nurses and technologists at University Hospital’s Heart & Vascular Institute.
“Dr. Kelley has been a great advocate for University Hospital. He cared for patients here at University, where he practiced for more than two decades, and we are very grateful for his continued support for heart care in our community through his endowment at University Health Care Foundation,” said Laurie Ott, the president of the University Health Care Foundation.
“His sons continue to carry his tradition of philanthropy forward, and we are excited about the Kelley Brothers & Friends event in October. This shows not only Dr. Kelley’s continued friendship with University but the ongoing support of his sons as well. We couldn’t be more thrilled.”
Tickets to the concert cost $35 and will be available through TheKelleyBrothers.com beginning July 22.
Special guests will be announced in the upcoming weeks, according to the release.
