Visitors are invited to attend the 10th anniversary celebration of the renovation of the Lockkeeper’s Cottage at Savannah Rapids Pavilion on Tuesday.
The cottage, former home of the keeper of the Lock and Dam, was renovated and reopened in 2004 as a state certified visitors center.
“It’s a special anniversary, we’ve been open for 10 years on July 1,” said visitor center representative Susan Reynolds, who has been volunteering there since it opened.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., hot dogs and other refreshments will be available. The center will be open for tours including a set-up of what the lockkeeper’s bedroom may have looked like, a photo history of the Lock and Dam and a video history of the cottage.
The cottage is at Savannah Rapids Pavilion at 3300 Evans to Locks Road in Martinez.
