Columbia County’s annual Blues, Brews and BBQ concert series started off with a rain delay.
The first concert in the spring series featuring Mama Says was slated for Friday, but was cancelled and rescheduled because of rain.
So the annual concert and food festival series will begin Friday with the Kenny George Band. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Columbia County Amphitheater behind the library in Evans.
“It gets a little bigger and bigger every year,” said Leanne Johnson, a county Community Events specialist.
The event will feature blues music as well as barbecue and other refreshments from three new local vendors, Johnson said.
The second concert in the series will feature Funky Bluester and the Breaking News Band from WRDW on May 2 at the amphitheater.
The performance from Friday was postponed until May 9 and will feature Chris Nedti and Co., a selection of musicians from Mama Says.
Johnson said coolers are not allowed, but that patrons should bring blankets and chairs.
The Vineyard will provide alcohol at the events including regular and craft beer, and there will be local barbecue vendors.
“It’s very family-friendly,” Johnson said of the event.
Admission is $5 and children 12 and under get in free. The first 150 entrants get a free koozie.
