A Masters Week entertainment staple again will rock Evans Towne Center Park.
The 10th annual Rock Fore! Dough benefit concert is Tuesday at the Lady Antebellum Pavilion at the park in Evans.
Organizers are excited that Darius Rucker, who has performered numerous times as part of Hootie and the Blowfish and as a solo artist since the inaugural concert, is returning for the landmark anniversary.
“We just feel really fortunate,” said Joe Stevenson, the event producer with GlueStick Music. “He’s as hot as he’s ever been. He loves Augusta and he loves First Tee. It’s really a natural fit.”
The concert is a fundraiser for First Tee of Augusta, an affiliate of an international nonprofit organization that teaches life-enhancing values to youths through the game of golf.
First Tee Executive Director Jill Brown said she’s excited to see Rucker back on the Rock Fore! Dough stage.
“We were excited that he was delighted to be a part of it,” Brown said. “When you have an artist eager to help out the organization, it’s always a great, warm feeling to have.”
Rucker leads a strong musical line-up that also includes country artists Randy Houser and Will Hoge as well as local musician Daniel Johnson.
Brown said the organization, which previously put on the concert on the First Tee driving range, took a chance last year and moved it to the park in Evans. The move saved the organization time and money by holding the concert in a place that already had a stage and a foundation for light and sound systems.
“It went very well,” Brown said of last year’s concert. “We weren’t really sure how people would like it last year. .. The people really liked it.”
The park also provides lots of parking and plenty of room to grow.
“It’s comfortable for people to be out there,” Stevenson said.
Brown said the concert raised more than $50,000 for the organization last year. And there has already been plenty of interest in the 10th annual concert as VIP tables and tickets have already sold out.
The gates open at 4 p.m. and Rucker is slated to take the stage at 8:45 p.m.
Tickets cost $25 in advance and $35 the day of the show. Tickets are available at First Tee and area Kroger stores.
