Viva Columbia County.
It’s time for the fifth annual Columbia County Charity Gala to bring a little Vegas to town.
Stacie Adkins, the Columbia County community events manager, said this year’s event features a black-tie Las Vegas style theme that costs $80 per person or $150 for a couple. All the proceeds help benefit local charities.
“The charities that are benefiting are Columbia County Cares soup pantry, Columbia County Foundation for Children and Columbia county Arts Development fund,” Adkins said.
Adkins said there will be plenty of games – black jack, poker, roulette, craps and a Texas hold ’em poker tournament – but there won’t be any real gambling.
The event also will feature a silent auction, dinner catered by Silver Palm, dancing, drinks, showgirls and celebrity impersonators, Adkins said.
Adkins said last year the gala raised $21,000 last year. This year’s goal is $25,000.
“We would like for this event to get so large that we have to move it to the exhibit hall … Our goal is for it to grow each year,” Adkins said.
Susy Allen, who has been a part of the event from the beginning, said she is excited about the gala, especially because it benefits local charities.
“What’s better than to have a good time and have it go to a good cause as well? Actually three local causes. That’s the nice thing about the Columbia County Charity Gala,” Allen said.
Tickets are available at Building C of the government complex, Learning Express and Fort Gordon Community and Credit Union.
