A Columbia County sheriff’s deputy was seriously injured Sunday after she wrecked a motorcycle during training.
Tiffanie Marie Smithwick, 23, was training on her motorcycle at about 10:45 a.m. in a back parking lot of the Evans Government Complex in Evans, according to sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris.
While making a left turn, Smithwick was unable to avoid hitting a concrete light pole base, according to a sheriff’s office accident report.
Smithwick was thrown off the motorcycle and hit the light pole with her head and suffered several injuries.
Smithwick, who suffered head and leg injuries, was rushed to the Georgia Regents Medical Center, where she was listed in fair condition Monday morning, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
