No matter what the weather forecast, snow is coming to Evans Towne Center Park on Jan. 18.
The second annual Columbia County Snow Fest will be from noon to 5 p.m.
The event will feature a snow field and two snow slides – a 7-foot-tall and a 12-foot-tall slide, said event organizer Joe Mullins.
“There will be a larger snow field,” Mullins said.
Families crowded the 40-foot-square field in December 2012. The field will be 70 feet square this year, Mullins said.
Like the inaugural event, snow will be generated by shaving ice and spraying it through the park. The event also includes inflatables, arts and crafts vendors and entertainment by local musical acts.
Tickets cost $10 each or $30 for a family of four and can be purchased in advance from Kirkland’s Flooring, county Walmart stores or online at www.etickets.com. Tickets also will be available at the gate.
“The $10 gets you access to everything,” Mullins said. Proceeds from the event will go to the Deborah Marshall Scholarship Fund. The fund helps Columbia County students who need financial assistance to attend college.
“Our goal is to have a $5,000 donation,” Mullins said.
The event is something Mullins hopes to continue each year on Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend and will always benefit a charity.
