A former Columbia County sheriff’s deputy charged with inappropriate behavior recently pled guilty and was sentenced.
Kester Henry Dozier, 42, pled guilty to violating his oath of office and crossing guard lines with prohibited items at a sentencing hearing in Evans on Thursday.
Superior Court Judge Michael N. Annis sentenced Dozier to five years probation and a $1,000 fine, according to court records.
Dozier, who served as a jailer at the Columbia County Detention Center, was arrested on Feb. 19 after an internal investigation. He was accused of inappropriate behavior with two inmates including asking them to undress and masturbate while he masturbated and taking partially nude photos of one of the inmates, according to his May indictment. He also allowed an inmate to use his computer to check e-mails. He also is accused of taking a cell phone into secure areas of the jail and gave unauthorized food, cleaning supplies and books to inmates.
The 21-year Army veteran worked at the jail for less than three months before his arrest. He was terminated.
