Christmas shopping starts early in Columbia County.
The sixth annual Christmas, Crafts and Caroling offers visitors on Saturday a chance to cross some items off their Christmas lists.
About 60 arts, crafts and speciality food vendors will be set up from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Exhibition Center at the Gateway shopping center in Grovetown.
“It’s a really good variety,” said Lindsay Waddell, a county community events specialist.
Waddell said vendors will offer “everything from jewelry and scarves to pet clothing and items and different things for kids, doll furniture and clothing, and of course, wreaths and holiday decor.”
Waddell said some speciality food vendors will be selling hand-ground grits and corn meal, spices, sauce mixes, barbecue sauce, jams, jellies and cakes.
Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be at the event to visit with children from noon to 3 p.m.
Parents can take photos of their children visiting with Santa.
Live entertainment will include local saxophonist Fred Williams, the chorus and a band ensemble from Grovetown High School and the Greenbrier Elementary School chorus.
“This is a really good facility for this type of event,” Waddell said, adding that she expects about 1,000 visitors.
Admission is free. Gift-wrapping will be available.
