Columbia County is celebrating military personnel Saturday with its annual Red, White and Blue Veterans Day celebration.
The celebration begins at 6:30 p.m. with guest speaker Col. Samuel J. Anderson, Fort Gordon commander, at Evans Towne Center Park, said Stacie Adkins, county Community Events manager.
The Army Signal Corps Band is scheduled to perform patriotic tunes.
“It’s just a relaxed atmosphere where people can come and listen to the music, enjoy the band followed by the fireworks,” Adkins said.
The performance precedes fireworks at dusk.
The celebration, established in 2001 as a way to honor local veterans and service members, traditionally was held on Memorial Day weekend. Last year, it was scaled down and moved to Veterans Day.
