The following accounts were taken from Columbia County Sheriff’s Office reports:
Car windows broken in lot
Several visitors to an Evans fitness center said Monday that someone broke into their vehicles in the parking lot.
Five people told deputies that between 6 and 7 p.m., someone broke windows out of their locked vehicles while parked in the lot of Quantum Fitness at 4408 Evans to Locks Road. The thief broke out side, or rear windows out and stole items, such as purses and cell phones that were in plain sight.
Man reports phone threat
A Grovetown man called authorities Monday after he said he was threatened by his supposed lover’s husband.
The 37-year-old man’s wife said she found Facebook messages between her husband and another woman and believed that they were having an affair. The woman said she forwarded those messages to the husband of the other woman.
After he was confronted by his wife, the man called the husband of the woman he was accused of having an affair with to “explain the situation.”
While on the phone, the man said he heard the other woman screaming. Her husband then told the man, “I’m going to kill you. I’m on my way to your house.”
Because no one else heard the threat and there was no physical evidence, no one was charged in the incident.
Roommate pawned items
A Grovetown man told deputies Tuesday that a man he let live with him stole and pawned several of his possessions.
The 29-year-old man said that he allowed a friend to live with him while he was “between houses.”
The man said his friend bragged to others about stealing items from him, in particular a generator.
The man said he was told by mutual friends that his friend stole and pawned the generator.
He’s worried about his personal and financial information that his friend had access to while living with him.
