Animal lovers are invited to become party animals during one last summer hoorah.
The PawPrints Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports area rescue groups, is holding its fourth annual Wags to Wishes event from 7-10 p.m. Saturday at Taylor BMW, 4180 Washington Road, Evans.
“We’re at it again,” said Dr. Nancy McNair, a co-founder of PawPrints and an event organizer.
The theme of this year’s fundraiser is Party Animals. It features heavy hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, live and silent auctions, raffles and some holiday shopping at the Bow-Wow and Meow Market. A professional auctioneer will lead the live auction.
“We’ve got all kinds of pet things, gift certificates, dinners out, trips, lots of pretty artwork, just all sorts of stuff,” McNair said. “So there’s stuff for every budget. You don’t have to be a big spender to come and have fun.”
The popular Leo Dean also will be lending his beach-style music to the event.
“We’re just thrilled that he’s going to be there,” McNair said.
Proceeds from the event go to the foundation, which supports animal rescue groups and shelters in the Augusta area and neighboring rural counties. The foundation helps provide food for fostered animals, assists with animal transports and any other way the foundation can help rescue groups and shelters.
Last year, the event raised more than $32,000.
“We’re hoping for better things this year because all the groups really need it,” McNair said. “Economically, it’s been a very hard time.”
Tickets for the event cost $20 each or $30 per pair. They are available at area businesses including Animal House, Art on Broad, D’Tails Grooming, Dogma Grooming, Taylor BMW, Village Deli, Vineyard Wine Market and Wild Birds Unlimited. Tickets also will be available at the door.
