Several Tuesday morning wrecks caused traffic delays on Interstate 20 for more than an hour.
The first wreck occurred in the eastbound lane just east of the Grovetown exit when a vehicle hit a guardrail. That led to eight more separate wrecks in the eastbound lanes all within two miles of the Grovetown exit including one on the I-20 off-ramp, according to Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris.
At least one eastbound lane was closed for about an hour leading to severe traffic slow-downs and back-ups. At the scene of one wreck involving two SUVs that blocked bloth lanes just east of the exit, traffic was diverted into the median.
Only one wreck involved injuries, but nothing life-threatening, Morris said.
