Gateway Exhibition Center opens with expo

Columbia County’s $7.3 million, 47,000-square-foot Exhibition Center opened Thursday, kicking off four days of events.

Thursday’s ribbon cutting and open house featured a trade show with more than 40 vendors at the new facility at the Gateway Shopping Center near Grovetown.

Friday featured a job fair with more than 30 companies seeking prospective employeees and Saturday was designated “Family Fitness Day,” with booths and demonstrations from recreation and fitness programs, such as Warrior Jiu-Jitsu MMA Academy, Seigler’s Karate Center, Hayden’s Gym and also The Family Y, which rents a portion of the exhibition center.

Today is Faith Day. From 1 to 5 p.m., churches and other religious organizations will be at the Exhibition Center. The public is invited to attend, visit church and organization booths and enjoy performances. For more information, call (706) 868-3349.
