A beach-themed concert will celebrate the start of summer at Evans Towne Center Park.

The Summer Beach Blast will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 1, on the stage of the Lady Antebellum Pavilion, said Stacie Adkins, events manager for Columbia County.

The concert will feature a Jimmy Buffett tribute band, Son of a Sailor, and the party band Swingin’ Medallions, Adkins said.

The Swingin’ Medallions, famous for the song Double Shot (of My Baby’s Love), mainly perform covers of popular songs from the early days of rock to the present.

“They do a variety of beach music mixed in with a variety of all kinds of music,” she said. “They go from early all the way up to today’s music. They’re a very entertaining band.”

Admission for the concert is $20 the day of the concert, but $15 advanced tickets can be purchased until the day of the concert at www.Etix.com or the Community and Leisure Services Office at the Columbia County Government Center.

The park was the site for a similar event last year featuring the Swingin’ Medallions. Adkins said that concert was well-received.

“People loved it,” she said.

In addition to the music, Adkins said there will be several food vendors and an area in front of the stage for dancing.
