Spring break is past and summer is fast approaching. For many area youngsters, that means summer camps are just around the corner.

The Augusta Family Magazine Summer Camp Expo provides parents with one-stop summer camp shopping.

The expo, slated for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the Augusta Preparatory Day School Boardman Gym, will feature many local and regional camp representatives.

“There’s really nothing like it,” said Lisa Dorn, director of advertising at Augusta Family Magazine. “We really just want to save parents time. They can book camps when they come to the expo.”

Dorn suggests parents bring their calendars and checkbooks with them in anticipation of booking their children into summer camps.

“There’s everything from arts to sports to academics,” she said.

In addition to local camps, several regional camps will be represented. Among them are the McCallie Sports Camp based in Chattanooga, Tenn., and the YWCO camp for girls based in North Georgia.

Presented by Children’s Hospital of Georgia and sponsored in part by WAFJ, the expo is free and open to the public.
