A Columbia County farmer’s market opens Thursday, and its organizers hope it boosts interest in locally grown, organic foods.
The Evans Towne Farmers Market will open at 4:30 p.m. March 7 on the grounds of the Columbia County Library in Evans March 7, and each Thursday evening from 4:30 to 7 until June.
Coordinated by Augusta Locally Grown, an nonprofit organization dedicated to providing locally grown organic foods to citizens of the CSRA, Evans Towne Farmers Market vendors will provide patrons with locally grown produce, eggs, meat, dairy, nut and bread products. Market vendors also will sell freshly prepared take-home foods from local chefs and restaurants.
In addition to food, the market will feature local artisans who incorporate regionally produced materials in their works, musicians, civic organizations and children’s activities.
