Harlem officials handled some routine tasks at their first City Council meeting of the year Monday.
The council approved qualifying fees for those who run in the Nov. 5 election. Mayor Bobby Culpepper is up reelection as are longtime council members Rudolph Dixon and John Thigpen.
Qualifying is slated for Aug. 26-28. The qualifying fee for the mayoral race is $144 and $108 for the council race.
Dixon also was appointed as the 2013 Mayor Pro Tem.
The council also approved $15,000 for the CSRA Regional Commission to handle the administrative end including required studies and data for a state Department of Transportation grant application. The Transportation Enhancement grant, if awarded, will be used to beautify South Hicks Street.
