Columbia County school hearings

• A Greenbrier High School student went before the school system hearing officer on Nov. 27 for public indecency and was given 15 days of out-of-school suspension.

• A Greenbrier High School student went before the hearing officer on Nov. 27 for public indecency and was suspended for the remainder of this school year with the option to attend the Columbia County Alternative School.

• A Harlem Middle School pupil went before the hearing officer on Nov. 27 for sexual battery and was expelled for the remainder of this school year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Lakeside High School student went before the hearing officer on Nov. 27 for fighting and was expelled for the remainder of this school year with the option to attend the alternative school.

• A Greenbrier Middle School special needs pupil went before the hearing officer on Nov. 28 for possession of prescription drugs and was remanded to the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Committee for punishment.

• An alternative school student went before the hearing officer on Nov. 28 for over-the-counter drugs and under the influence and was remanded to the school after eight days of out-of-school suspension.

• A Lakeside High School student went before the hearing officer on Nov. 28 for under the influence and was suspended for the remainder of this school year with the option to attend the alternative school.
