Columbia County artists and their works take center stage Saturday in Martinez.
The Artists’ Guild of Columbia County is holding its seventh annual Art After Dark at the Church of the Holy Comforter, 473 Furys Ferry Road.
Members of the guild and local NBC personalities Paige Tucker, Courtney Khondabi and Shaneen Quarles are submitting works for display, guild President Pat Wilczek said.
The artworks include paintings and photography and will be showcased 7-10 p.m.
“Everything that is there will be for sale,” Wilczek said.
Many of the works will be included in live and silent auctions
Entertainment will include performances by the Columbia County Ballet and saxophonist Fred Williams. Three guild artists will do live paintings accompanied by the Columbia County Orchestra Jazz Chamber.
“These are very different artists stylistically,” Wilczek said. “If we’re all going to show people what art is, it is a good thing to see what the experts do.
“The music is playing and the muse jumps into their heads. You never know what is going to come out of it.”
Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be provided.
Admission is free but donations will be accepted for the guild’s building fund.
“I want somebody to realize we need a place here in this area to show arts, to teach people,” Wilczek said.
Proceeds from the auctions and art sales go to the art scholarship fund, which assists students majoring in art.
