As autumn kicks in, animal lovers can support animal rescue groups and enjoy one last slice of summer.
The PawPrints Foundation, a nonprofit organization aimed at supporting area rescue groups, is holding its third annual Wags to Wishes Sandy Paws fundraiser from 7-10 p.m. Saturday at Taylor BMW, 4180 Washington Road, Evans.
“It’s grown every year,” said Dr. Nancy McNair, a co-founder of PawPrints and an event organizer. “I hope we’re going to have a good crowd. The groups need the money desperately. Anything for a buck for the animals.”
The event will include heavy hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, live and silent auctions, raffles for gift baskets and other prizes, shopping and beach-style music from Leo Dean.
“I was thrilled when (he) said he’d come do it again this year,” McNair said of Dean.
The auctions include gift certificates, gift baskets, sports and outdoor items, art work and animal products.
Proceeds from the event go to the foundation, which supports animal rescue groups and shelters in the Augusta area and neighboring rural counties.
Last year, the event raised more than $27,000. The group also collected and distributed about 10,000 pounds of pet food in the past year.
PawPrints assists rescue groups by providing animal transports, providing food for fostered animals and helping groups in need.
Tickets cost $20 each or $30for two. They are available at Animal House, Art on Broad, Cudos2u, Midtown Market, MishMash, Taylor BMW, Vineyard Wine Market and Wild Birds Unlimited. Tickets also will be available at the door.
